What is your best riding achievement?

Winning the Horse of the Year, Dressage level 2 Pony of the Year title on my retired pony mare Glenvar Bramble in 2020. Producing a hat-trick at the ORO Equestrian Dressage by the Lake 2023 at Takapoto Estate last November in the FEI Junior classes on Georgia MH, with it being our first time competing at that level. Another great one was just being awarded National Advanced Medium Young Rider Champion at Under 25 Championships 2024.

Your best tip for your discipline(s)?

Listen. Listen to your trainer, listen to master classes online, and immerse yourself in training tips and tricks from people all over the world. Then put what you've learnt to practice, then practice it over and over until it is better and near perfect. Because nobody's perfect. Something else is to be social, dressage is probably one of the most individual disciplines in Equestrian and can get lonely really quick, be brave and make friends and be approachable. Because it is so much better to be able to celebrate our successes and failures with someone who is on a similar journey.

Who inspires you?

Wendi Williamson for her determination, work ethic and balance of life and horses all while staying kind and humble. Her attention to detail is top notch and her generosity to allow me to gain experience in a professional yard from such a young age is inspiring to me to one day be able to do the same for another young rider. Not to forget the aura she gives when she rides, a true masterclass to watch.

Who else do you work with?

I have weekly lessons with Sharlene Royal who I have been with since I was 9 years old and occasionally have lessons with Wendi (Williamson) when timing matches up. I'm super grateful to be sponsored by Oro Equestrian, Hannah Comrie - NZ Supergroom and Photographer, and Hands-on Horses.

Best feeding tip?

Don't feed the trends, get professional advice if you have any doubts or questions about what is best suited for your horse, because they're all different, and by destroying the gut you're destroying the horse, not only its health but its trust. If it's uncomfortable to do the work, they simply won't do it to the level you desire. Put yourself in their shoes and how you don't feel very well if you don't get the right nutrition for YOUR body.

Favourite product and why?

Travel pro, it is so convenient for trips away with the ponies. It uses less storage space and it is lucerne in a smaller bag. I love feeding it to ulcer-prone ponies as I can give them some pre-travel and know their stomachs have a layer of protection from acid splash.
